Emerald Mountain in Downtown Steamboat Springs

Emerald Mountain: This hike is one of the busiest trails in Steamboat, but locals flock to it for the great workout and some of the best views of Steamboat (call us for directions). Located right out of downtown, this hike climbs through exposed meadows and a few groves of trees. Bikers are plentiful, but when you turn around, the world opens up before you. The trail system up Emerald Mountain expands from downtown to Tree Haus Drive. There are game trails to follow as well as more established trails. From Emerald, there’s an incredible view of Mt. Werner, the Sleeping Giant and the Zirkel Wilderness. There are no water sources, so bring lots of water during the upcoming summer months!
